Once again this holiday season our office will be collecting for Foodbank WA.
The Foodbank Hunger Report 2022 states that on any given day in Australia, more than half a million households are struggling to put food on the table. This includes over 116,000 West Australian children who have lived in severely food insecure households this year.
In addition to Foodbank providing food relief they run initiatives within schools to provide health breakfasts, snacks and education about cooking and nutrition to children, actively work with farmers and food and grocery manufacturers to reduce Australia’s food waste and provide support to first responders, emergency services and communities during natural disasters such as fires and floods.
The most in demand items include any non-perishable canned products including tinned ham, tuna, rice, pasta, pasta sauce, fruit and veg, apple sauce and jelly. We encourage any of our patients who have any items to spare to bring them to our Murdoch clinic to donate.
