Unfortunately the knee joint is frequently injured. It can be exposed to significant force as the moving body changes direction. Injuries may occur whilst performing sport, working or when under heavy loads. They may also occur as minor injuries that slowly accumulate over time.

Many knee injuries will settle down without major intervention, some injuries will do badly if treated non-operatively and surgery would be recommended.

Common knee problems needing surgery include fractures, meniscal injuries, cartilage injuries, ligament ruptures and patella dislocations.
