Whilst we try to keep booking surgery as streamlined as possible often the complexity of orthopaedic surgery means that in order for you to be as prepared as possible a lot of information and even more paperwork is given to you and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by this.
When you initially book a surgery date our office will provide you with an information pack which contains a check-list of everything that you’re required to do prior to your surgery, tailored to your individual procedure.
This list may include:
- Signing a Consent to Procedure or Financial Consent Form.
- Checking your level of health cover with your private health insurance company.
- Completing a hospital pre-admission questionnaire and having a pre-admission call or appointment with the hospital.
- Contacting your anaesthetist’s office or having a preoperative appointment with your anaesthetist.
- Having preoperative imaging and/or pathology.
- Ceasing certain medications.
- Having a preoperative assessment with a physio or consultant physician.
If you’re feeling unsure about what you need to do before your surgery our secretaries are happy to guide you through things on the phone or for you to come back into the clinic during business hours to go over things in person. No query is too big or small to ask.
